Parents Report Seeing Suspicious Man With Gun Near Villa Cresta Elementary School
PARKVILLE, Md. (WJZ)— A suspicious man was spotted carrying a gun near a local elementary school Monday afternoon.
Police were called to Villa Cresta Elementary School, located at 2600 Rader Avenue in Parkville, around 3:20 p.m.
Parents reported seeing a man running across a field behind the school with a long weapon, like a rifle or shotgun, before getting into a white work-style vehicle and fleeing at the intersection of Rader and Ardmore Avenues.
Police responded and searched the area. They believe the man was between 20 and 30 years old and the van belonged to someone in the neighborhood.
Police are unsure whether the man was carrying an actual weapon. The investigation shows the item the man carried was pointed at the ground and was not used in a threatening manner.
The man did not interact with anyone, nor did he attempt to enter the school.
As a precaution, dismissal was held for about 10 minutes. Nothing else was found at the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-887-5310.
