Pair Of Pigs Spotted Wandering Near BW Parkway
LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County animal control officials are on the lookout for two pot-bellied pigs that are making themselves at home in a patch of woods next to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that the black pigs that weigh as much as 100 pounds each have been spotted in an industrial park at Hammonds Ferry Road in the past two weeks. So far they have eluded capture and no area residents have agreed to set up traps.
The Department of Natural Resources believes someone who kept the pigs as pets abandoned them. After the state determined the pigs weren't feral and didn't present an ecological danger, the case was turned over to animal control. If the pigs are caught, the agency will search for a rescue operation.
