Pair Of Armed Robberies Reported At Maryland Live! Casino
HANOVER, Md. (WJZ) -- Some bad luck at the Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover. Right now, Anne Arundel County police are searching for an armed robber who went after, not one, but two women.
Linh Bui reports both incidents happened within 20 minutes.
Just before 8 a.m. Sunday, police say a man approached a 71-year-old woman at the Maryland Live! Casino. They say he had a knife and tried to take her purse, but she would not let it go.
A 35-year-old woman also told police she was in her car in the parking garage when a man pointed a knife at her, opened her door and took her money.
Neither woman was injured. The suspect got away.
"It's pretty unusual. We haven't seen this kind of crime occurring at this casino. We have a great working relationship with the casino security," said Lieutenant T.J. Smith, Anne Arundel County Police Dept.
Police gave this description of the suspect: A man in his 20s between 5'6 and 5'10--skinny build--wearing glasses, a green shirt and green cargo shorts.
Police ask people to be vigilant.
"Be aware of your surroundings. If you see somebody suspicious, wait for another opportunity. See other people and travel with them in groups and try not to isolate yourself," Smith said.
Officers have not found the suspect. The investigation continues.
