Pa. Man Gets Life Term In Murder Of Md. Woman
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A south-central Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life without parole for the murder of a Maryland woman more than three years ago.
Jeffrey Miles, 50, of State Line pleaded guilty last month in Franklin County in the stabbing death of Kristy Hoke, 29, of Hagerstown, Md., whose body was found in a remote area of Waynesboro in April 2010.
President Judge Douglas Herman announced Thursday that he was convicting Miles of first-degree rather than second- or third-degree murder.
Miles testified Wednesday that he loved Hoke and never intended to kill her, but he had smoked crack for days on end prior to the stabbing.
He is still awaiting trial for the 1995 killing of 17-year-old Angie Daley of Waynesboro, whose remains were found during the investigation into Hoke's death.
