Pa. Man Convicted Of Robbing Hagerstown Bank
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of robbing a Hagerstown bank.
Charles Benjamin McNeal, 28, of Waynesboro was convicted Tuesday in Washington County Circuit Court. He was found guilty of robbery, assault and theft.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that McNeal represented himself in the three-day trial. It took the jury less than 30 minutes to return the guilty verdict.
Prosecutors say McNeal went into M&T Bank on Pennsylvania Avenue in September 2012 and gave a teller a note demanding cash. Authorities say he fled with more than $1,800, and was arrested about an hour later.
A sentencing date has not been set.
