Pa. College Mourns Loss Of Beloved Coach & Baltimore Native Killed In Bus Crash
GREENSBURG, Pa. (WJZ) -- A community in mourning. A Pennsylvania college campus grieves, honoring the memory of a Baltimore native who was killed when a bus carrying the women's lacrosse team crashes into a tree.
It happened just outside of Harrisburg, Pa.
Derek Valcourt has more on Sunday night's memorial honoring Seton Hill lacrosse coach Kristina Quigley.
It is especially heartbreaking because this Dundalk native was married, she already had one young son and was six months pregnant when she died.
There may not be any way to help this small Catholic university heal, no less than a day after the women's lacrosse coach--Baltimore native Kristina Quigley--her unborn child, as well as a bus driver were killed in a bus accident on their way to a game at Millersville University.
"We pray tonight for Kristina, her unborn baby, her husband Glenn and her young son Gavin," said Michele Ridge.
To pray together and to mourn together.
"In the face of our ever so painful loss of Kristin in our earthly lives may our prayer be one of hope," said Rev. Jeremiah O'Shea.
Hardest hit were members of the lacrosse team, including four players from Maryland, all carrying red and white roses in memory of their beloved coach.
"My sympathy goes out to all the players and the coaches," said Dana Esperana.
Seton Hill University will continue to offer counseling for students and players still reeling over the loss.
State regulators say the company that operates the bus that crashed appears to be up-to-date on all of its inspections and safety checks. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Two victims remain in the hospital. Everyone else involved in the crash has since been treated and released.
