Md. Police: Unattended Kayak Owner Found Safe
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The owner of a kayak discovered floating unattended in the Chesapeake Bay has been found safe.
Maryland Natural Resources Police and other agencies began a search by boat and helicopter Sunday morning after the two-person kayak was found unattended near the mouth of the West River in Anne Arundel County.
Police say Christopher Drott, 52, of Edgewater reported he fell out of the kayak on Saturday and swam to shore.
Drott told police he thought the kayak sank, so he did not alert authorities.
Boat owners and operators are reminded to immediately notify Natural Resources Police of any missing watercraft.
