More Than 5,000 Still Lack Power In Maryland
WASHINGTON (WJZ/AP) -- Thousands of residents in the mid-Atlantic region still remain without power more than a week after deadly summer storms struck the area.
By Saturday afternoon, Baltimore Gas and Electric was reporting the most outages. The utility says nearly 4,444 customers are without power-- 850 in Baltimore County, 1,109 in Baltimore City, 1,219 in Anne Arundel County and 106 in Howard County. In the Washington area, Pepco says it's working to restore power to 142 customers in Montgomery County and 103 in Prince George's County, according to its website.
Pepco says the extreme heat and last week's storm damage are stressing the electrical system's capabilities. The utility is advising customers to conserve electricity.
In northern Virginia, Dominion Power says storm outages have been repaired.
