Outgoing Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley Working On Book
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Outgoing Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley says he is working on a book.
The Democrat, who's considering running for president, said Thursday in a brief interview that the book will focus on "the new way of governing" he brought to Baltimore. He served as city councilman from 1991 to 1999 and later as mayor from 1999 to 2007. He's describing it as "a story of service."
O'Malley is known for a data-tracking management tool called CitiStat that aimed to measure performance in government. He used the same tools on a statewide level when he became governor in 2007.
O'Malley, who leaves office next week, says he plans to incorporate material he has been writing on a blog. He says he hasn't found a publisher yet.
