'Outbreak' Prepares To Perform For New Year's Eve Spectacular
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- As we break into 2013, one band will ring revelers into the New Year.
Gigi Barnett takes a look at the group Outbreak.
The rip of guitars with high-energy vocals. Add in a strong bass and it's the style and sounds of Outbreak, one of Baltimore's popular bands tapped to sing Baltimore's New Year's Eve revelers into 2013.
Outbreak can play almost everything: classic rock, dance and even pop.
Band members admit that they weren't familiar with the Inner Harbor celebration that marks the New Year but when their manager explained, they jumped at the chance to play.
"When this came in, we were like, `Oh, yeah, we're going to take that,'" said Dominic Cavey.
The group hasn't picked its song list for New Year's Eve but whatever they play, the goal is to keep dancers on their feet.
"That's what we feed off of, when the crowd's there and they're into it. That makes us satisfied about doing this as our passion," said Tim Faze.
Outbreak is one of the hottest bands in Baltimore's bar scene. They usually play to crowds of 200 and 300 but at this year's New Year's Eve Spectacular, it may be one of the largest crowds they've ever had the pleasure of entertaining.
"We've played where you might get 5,000, 6,000 people. But this will probably be one of the biggest crowds we've ever had," said Faze.
Outbreak's popularity has steadily grown over the years and the group says playing to the New Year's Eve crowd will only enhance their image.
"We've definitely been moving up to the East Side," said Faze.
Outbreak takes the stage at 9 p.m.
