Osprey Nest Blocking Traffic Camera Removed
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A pair of ospreys that built their nest on a pole holding a Chesapeake Bay Bridge traffic camera will have to find a new home.
The Maryland Transportation Authority, which operates the bridge, says officials removed the nest Friday so the camera's view isn't blocked and for the safety of the birds.
Authority spokesman John Sales says that when officials moved the camera, which pivots to show traffic, the ospreys got agitated and attacked it. The nest was also blocking the view of the roadway.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service told Maryland officials they could remove the nest because there were no eggs or young in it.
