The Orioles now have a four game winning streak after sweeping a three game series with the Yankees. The charge was lead by Chris Davis and Manny Machado over the weekend. Davis belted three home runs during the series and Machado went three for four with a home run and another double. The tandem had Oriole Park at Camden Yards rocking with excitement. Melewski touched on how electric the stadium was this weekend, "They're [The Fans] enthusiastic and they're loud. They're in to the game for nine innings and they're making Camden Yards a tough place to come in and try to win."
Brian Roberts stepped back in to the lineup Sunday night as the DH for the birds. Roberts went 1-2 with an RBI in the seventh inning. Roberts is back after just playing in the first three games of the season before injuring his hamstring which would eventually require surgery. Roberts looked solid in his return and will start Tuesday night at second base against the Chicago White Sox.
Chris Davis continued his All-Star form in the series against the Yankees. He homered twice Saturday night and placed a pitch over the left field wall for his thirty first homer of the year on Sunday night. With his pace not slowing down and Davis going in to an off season in which he could file arbitration the Orioles could look to lock Davis up with a long term contract. Melewski thinks the O's front office should wait to see how the rest of his season goes before committing a large chunk of money to him.
As the Orioles continue their winning ways the need for another solid pitcher becomes more apparent. Scott and Jeremy asked Melewski that if the Orioles have tipped their hand at a possible move but they have kept their lips sealed. There could be a thousand rumors that lead to nothing for the O's which would be similar to last year when they signed Joe Saunders.
