Orioles Pitcher Jason Hammel Talks About The Upcoming Season
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Jason Hammel joins Ed & Bob to talk about spring training and the upcoming season.
Bob asked Jason about the vibe in the Orioles locker room this year after the first winning season in fifteen years. Jason said it's a lot like last year, the clubhouse has a great vibe and all the guys get along. Jason said it's nice to look around and see a bunch of guys all pushing in the same direction.
Bob also asked Jason about his knee problems from last year. Jason told us what we wanted to hear, the knee is "a non issue" and he has no ill effects from the knee injuries that nagged him last year.
Ed asked Jason about all the writers picking the Orioles to finish last this year. Jason said it doesn't matter at all because writers don't know anything, and writers are frequently wrong about the teams he is on.

Jason was asked about working with Matt Wieters. Jason said Matt makes it so easy he does all the thinking for him and that the only thing Wieters doesn't do for him is throw the pitch.
Ed asked Jason about rookie Kevin Gausman and how he has looked. Jason said that Gausman is pitching with his group and has been very good and looks impressive. Jason also said he is a perfect rookie because he is seen and not heard, and that Gausman has a good head on his shoulders.
Hammel also said he is more than happy to accept a leadership role as he is the elder statesman of the pitchers. Hammel also said the pranks during spring training have been fun and respectful.
