Orioles GM Dan Duquette Chats About Chen
Orioles Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations joined the Vinny and Rob Show on Thursday.
Dan joined Rob to talk about the dismal month that was May and the big turn-around we've seen from the team in the month of June. Dan credits the return of J.J. Hardy and Matt Wieters as part of the catalyst for the change. He also tells us that with some of the players returning from injury and the pitchers finding their form, the roster is the strongest its been all year.
Pitcher Wei Yin Chen made headlines after being sent down to high-A Frederick, taking to Twitter to voice his frustration about the move throwing off his routine. Dan recognizes that Chen is a creature of habit and didn't like messing with his routine, but that the club made the right decision for the competitive advantage in the upcoming series. Citing the makeup of the Blue Jays lineup and the production of Chris Parmalee, he builds a good case.
The guys also discuss the absence of Adam Jones in the lineup and Manny Machado's maturation process.
