Orioles 2B Roberts Progressing In Bid To Return
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- Brian Roberts joined his Baltimore teammates in the Orioles' first full-squad workout at spring training.
The second baseman still isn't 100 percent and there is still no timetable for his return to the lineup. Roberts didn't play after May 16 last season because of concussion symptoms, but headed to the back fields Friday and instantly became the center of attention.
Roberts has been limited to hitting off a tee and soft toss, running and light weight lifting. The recovery process has been slow and often interrupted by headaches and nausea, but Roberts appears to be making progress.
Roberts stretched and jogged before playing catch with shortstop J.J. Hardy on Friday. He then headed back to the hitting tee.
