One Person Shot, Killed Outside Of Glen Burnie Hospital
BALTIMORE (WJZ) --A 24-year-old son shot his 40-year-old father in the parking lot of the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center on Wednesday, according to authorities.
Kintrell Todd McEachern Jr. and Kintrell Todd McEachern Sr. got into a dispute prior to the shooting.
That's when the younger McEachern shot his father in the torso multiple times and once in the head, Anne Arundel County Police said.
He then fled to a wooded area in Baltimore County and shot himself, according to authorities.
"It's our understanding that the son came in a separate vehicle, confronted his father in the parking lot over some incident or issue, and then shot his father to death," Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Glen Shanahan.
The older McEachern was at the hospital visiting his wife, authorities said.
Michael Schwartzberg, a spokesperson for the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, confirmed on Wednesday that the Anne Arundel County Police Department was investigating a shooting that occurred on the medical center's parking lot.
"We would like to thank the AACoPD Police Department and Fire Department for their rapid response to the situation, and recognize the efforts of hospital staff who took quick action in attempting to render aid to the victim," Schwartzberg said in a statement.
The hospital's emergency department remains open for patients at this time, he said. The shooting has not had an impact to delivery of patient care, Schwartzberg said.
