One Person Shot, Injured in Dundalk, Police Say
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- "Just boom, boom, boom, boom," neighborhood resident George Belton said.
That's what it sounded like when gunshots echoed throughout a Dundalk neighborhood on Wednesday.
It was "six or seven gunshots," neighborhood resident Rick Cooper said of the shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Ewald Avenue at 2:40 p.m.
"Me and my wife were sitting in the living room and heard pop, pop, pop, pop," neighborhood resident Rick Cooper.
County detectives are now investigating the brazen daytime shooting.
"I was down in the basement and I heard the gunshots when I come running up the steps, came outside, that's when I saw all the commotion," Belton said.
That commotion prompted people in the neighborhood to jump into action.
"I just seen a gentleman leaning out of the van and I seen everybody running over there and I see glass on the ground," Belton said.
He said this all happened just a few feet from his front yard.
He says the man shot was his friend and his mom lives across the street.
"He lives on the street," Belton said. "I've actually talked to him once or twice before in passing. Great guy."
Baltimore County officers quickly shut down the road and searched for evidence. But with no suspects or answers as to what happened.
"It's a shame it's happening this close to my house," Belton said.
Neighbors tell WJZ the gunshot victim was taken to the hospital.
Police have not given an update on the victim's condition.
