1 Person Dead After Single Vehicle Crash

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Howard County police are investigating a single vehicle crash that left one person dead.

It happened Sunday around 4:08 p.m on eastbound MD Rt 32 and US Rt 29.

Investigators say a 2002 Nissan Xterra was traveling eastbound on MD Rt 32 when it veered off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail. Police say the car then continued onto the bridge over US Rt 29. That's where it lost control and struck the concrete jersey wall.

The driver, and only occupant of the car, has been identified as Sarah Stebbins, 21, of Elkridge. Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the car.

The incident is still under investigation but police say speed may be a factor.
