One Direction Win Big at 2014 American Music Awards
By Radio.com Staff
It's good to be One Direction right now. Actually, let's be honest, it's always good to be those guys.
Currently, the boy band is set to go to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week with their album, Four, with over 420,000 copies sold. These early predictions would put them at the second highest first week sales of the year, behind Ms. Taylor Swift.
But last night (Nov. 23) at the American Music Awards the guys took home three statues, including the biggest one of the night, Artist of the Year, along with Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album for 2013's Midnight Memories.

Katy Perry also had a good night, earning three awards including Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Single of the Year for "Dark Horse."
Iggy Azalea bested Eminem by taking home two awards in the hip-hop category: Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album.
Beyoncé wasn't there to pick up her awards, but still earned Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album for her self-titled album.
