O'Malley Touts Economic Development Trip To Asia
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley says an economic development trip to Asia next month will include 68 business leaders, educators and elected officials.
The O'Malley administration on Tuesday described the trip as one of the largest Maryland delegations to go on an overseas economic development mission.
The delegation, which will spend 10 days in China, South Korea and Vietnam, will leave May 31 and return June 11.
O'Malley will be promoting Maryland's life sciences companies, and he will be working to persuade foreign companies to set up U.S. operations.
The governor will give two keynote addresses. One will be at the 13th Shanghai BioForum, which is expected to draw more than 500 people. The other speech will be to the Global Bio & Medical Forum, South Korea's largest annual biopharmaceutical conference.
