O'Malley To Speak At Green Building Council
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley will be the keynote speaker at the closing session of the U.S. Green Building Council meeting in Washington.
The governor will address the council Wednesday.
His appearance comes one day after he signed legislation that will enable Maryland to adopt the International Green Construction Code in March. Maryland is the first state to approve adopting the code. The bill will allow the state's Department of Housing and Community Development to adopt the code by regulation.
Roger Platt, senior vice president of global policy law for the Green Building Council, says the law is the next step toward true market transformation and the advancement of the green building movement.
