Residents & Lawmakers Discuss Redistricting
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley says he will be weighing public comments to a proposed legislative redistricting map for the Maryland General Assembly, but he isn't expecting to make many changes.
O'Malley spoke about public comments made at a hearing on Thursday in Annapolis. The governor, a Democrat, says he believes there were good points made that he will review, but he didn't mention specifically what those were when speaking with reporters after the hearing.
The governor's advisory committee on redistricting is making the map public.
A final map will be sent by O'Malley to the General Assembly in January. Lawmakers will have 45 days to either approve the governor's map or pass an alternative plan.
