O'Malley Says Assembly 'Choked' On His Agenda
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley says the General Assembly "choked" on two of his top priorities this year.
O'Malley said Monday on WYPR's "Maryland Morning with Sheilah Kast" that lawmakers shelved his plans to crack down on septic system pollution and mandate state utilities to buy offshore wind energy because the issues were "very, very big."
While Democrats overwhelmingly control both the Senate and the House of Delegates, O'Malley has struggled to advance high-profile pieces of his legislative agenda this year.
Lawmakers are set to close the 2011 session at midnight Monday.
