O'Malley Plans Study Of Septic System Pollution
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley is assembling a group to study pollution from septic systems.
O'Malley plans to sign an executive order Monday establishing the study, which will examine the extent to which septic tanks from large developments are polluting the Chesapeake Bay.
O'Malley was forced to retreat from a plan that would have set new requirements for installing high-end septic systems in rural developments after Democratic leaders said the issue was too complicated to be hashed out during the 2011 session.
The summer study is expected to lay the groundwork for another shot at limiting septic systems next year.
