O'Malley Names Matt Power Director Of StateStat
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley has appointed a director of StateStat, a management tool that aims to measure performance in state government.
O'Malley announced the appointment of Matt Power on Tuesday.
Power has previously worked as deputy secretary for the Maryland Department of Planning. He began his career in public service in 1999 with the Department of Legislative Services, where he provided legislative oversight to Maryland's environmental agencies.
As StateStat director, he will oversee weekly meetings where agency heads meet with executive staff report and answer questions about performance and initiatives.
Power replaces Beth Blauer, who went to work for cloud-based open data systems provider Socrata late last year.
StateStat is modeled after the CitiStat program O'Malley used while mayor of Baltimore.
