O'Malley Calls For State Regulatory Review
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley is looking to reduce unnecessary rules from the state's regulatory process in an effort to help spark job growth.
O'Malley announced a 60-day review period on Monday as lawmakers convened for a special session on congressional redistricting.
The Democratic governor says he plans to introduce a package of regulatory reforms to the General Assembly when it gathers for its regular 90-day session in January.
O'Malley says hearings will be held this week on redistricting during the special session in order to try to build consensus for legislation early next year. The hearings will focus on Maryland's infrastructure and transportation needs.
