Officer Acquitted In Videotapped Assault Of Md. Student Resumes Full Duty
PALMER PARK, Md. (AP) -- A Prince George's County police officer who was acquitted on charges stemming from the videotaped assault of a University of Maryland student has returned to full duty.
Police spokeswoman Julie Parker said Wednesday that Reginald Baker is assigned to the clothing supply unit and has returned to duty.
A jury in 2012 acquitted Baker of beating the student during a rowdy celebration after the Maryland men's basketball team beat Duke in March 2010. Another officer was convicted of assault. A videotape of the encounter surfaced and was played during the officers' trial.
Parker says Baker was also found not guilty of internal charges Monday night by a county police department trial board comprised of a major, a captain and a corporal.
