Ocean City To Seek Other Advertising Agencies
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- The Ocean City Town Council has decided to shop around for other advertising agencies to promote tourism after the November election.
The resort city has for years been using the Baltimore-based agency MGH, which created a campaign starring a lifeguard named Rodney who rescued people from their daily lives and took them to the beach. MGH's year-to-year contract had been scheduled to be automatically renewed.
In 2009, the council also decided to look around for a new agency and ended up resuming its partnership with MGH.
Council President Jim Hall tells The Daily Times of Salisbury that he welcomes another opportunity to interview ad agencies.
MGH President Andy Malis has said his firm deserves to have its contract renewed.
