Obama, Biden Speak To House Democrats In Baltimore Thursday
BALTIMORE (WJZ)--The commander-in-chief pays of visit to Baltimore.
President Barack Obama arrived Thursday evening to address fellow democrats at a conference at the Inner Harbor.
Meghan McCorkell has more on his exciting visit that tied up traffic downtown.
WJZ was there as President Obama's motorcade arrives in Downtown Baltimore.
The president was in town addressing House Democrats during their three-day annual conference.
For some the opportunity to see the president's motorcade--- too good to pass up.
"I grabbed my camera, so I got some good shots. I'm going to go home and throw them on Facebook," said Michael Johnson.
For others, the president's visit couldn't come at a worse time--rush hour!
Closed roads across downtown brought traffic to a standstill.
Outside the Hyatt Regency at the Inner Harbor throughout the day, it was anything but normal.
Added security from the U.S. Capitol Police, along with Secret Service had been brought in around the hotel in both marked and unmarked cars.
And the president wasn't the only VIP in Charm City on Thursday. Vice president Joe Biden addressed democrats Thursday afternoon.
The special visits were the talk of the town.
"It's a great thing for the nation to see Baltimore in the limelight, that the president is here," said Markeisha Allen-Dorce.
The president left Baltimore around 9 o'clock after wrapping up his meetings.
The Department of Transportation had put out a warning alerting drivers to road closures around the Inner Harbor during rush hour.
