NTSB Report: Plane Fractured From Impact In Ocean City Crash That Killed 2 Officers
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report on the Ocean City plane crash that killed two off-duty police officers says the plane appeared intact as it hit the ocean and it was found together, but fractured from impact.
The report states that divers found the fractured small military-style plane together on the ocean floor but the left wing was lost during recovery. The NTSB says investigators hope to salvage video from a camera in the rear cockpit. A second report will be released when the investigation is complete and a final report will include findings and a probable cause for the crash.
Forty-three-year-old Thomas Geoghegan Jr. and 27-year-old Joshua Adickes of Berlin were killed June 30 when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Ocean City Municipal Airport.
