Northeast Blizzard Causes Travel Problems In Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The monster blizzard affecting the northeast is causing problems for some travelers here in Baltimore.
Derek Valcourt has more.
At Baltimore's Penn Station, plenty of trains north were a no go, leaving many people with little to do but wait.
"All the other trains that are local or regional are running later, so just kinda sitting here, waiting for the next thing going that way," said E'Marcus Harper-Short.
Our local snow barely caused an inconvenience at BWI.
"Our snow team has been hard at work since Sunday night, working to ensure safe operations for our airlines and passengers," said Jonathon Dean.
But the same cannot be said of snow at other airports to our northeast. Flights to and from New England and New York are all canceled. Most travelers to those destinations left a day early in anticipation of the storm. Others, like Ashley Faulkner, had to be re-routed.
"I was supposed to leave Chicago O'Hare and fly into Philadelphia but that flight got canceled," she said.
On Maryland roadways, drivers were thrilled most streets were clear---even if their cars needed help.
"At least everybody's safe, especially the folks up in New York. We have a lot of family up there," said one.
Heavy amounts of salt spread by state and local crews helped melt most of the snow by the morning commute.
