Norovirus Sickens More Than 200 Students, Staff At Pot Spring Elementary
TIMONIUM, Md. (WJZ) -- We now know what caused more than 200 Baltimore County students to miss school last week.
Health officials confirm norovirus was the culprit that sickened 200 students and nine staff members May 17 at Pot Spring Elementary in Timonium.
Norovirus is highly contagious and the most common cause of stomach illness in the country. Symptoms typically last for 24-60 hours.
"The good news is that we saw enrollment rebound this week and get back to normal levels," schools spokesman Charles Herndon said Friday. "It appears that it has run its course."
