No Charges In Parade Death Of 7-Year-Old Boy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Prosecutors have decided not to file charges against a man who was driving a parade float that struck and killed his grandson on July 4.
The Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office said Thursday that it has closed the case after Annapolis police found that the driver could not have known what was happening.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that 7-year-old Kyle Aldridge of Baltimore was on a trailer that was being used as a float in Annapolis. His grandfather, Jason Bernard Hicks of Glen Burnie, was driving a van that was pulling the float.
Police say the boy fell and was hit by the trailer's tire. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
