New Information, But No Arrest In Halloween Murder
HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) - It's been a year and no arrests have been made in the case that left one dead and another paralyzed at a party in Howard County.
Suzanne Collins explains police and the murder victim's father are asking for leads.
It happened at a Howard County home where 19-year-old Aaron Brice was shot to death in the front yard. A 22-year-old was paralyzed inside as another bullet came through the walls. A year has passed and no one has been charged. Brice's father wants justice.
"The public would, should be outraged that there's a killer on the loose and they're not close to finding out who actually did this," said Tony Brice, victim's father.
The police investigation showed there were more than a hundred young people at the private home that night, but the Halloween party was open to the general public who paid to get in.
"What we need now is someone to come forward with information that's going to tie everything together," said Sherry Llewellyn, Howard County Police.
Initially, two men were charged, one witness named them and they had a similar gun, but those charges were dropped.
"Once we ran the ballistics test though we recognized the fact the gun did not match. And the eyewitness who'd given information, his story was really not corroborated by other witnesses at the party," said Llewellyn.
Police have some new information. They know there was a party here in June 2009 before the Halloween party. At that time, they were called for disorderly conduct. A person drove away from the scene fireing a gun into the air. Those bullets did match the murder weapon.
The homeowners weren't charged, but they did face civil counts for violating zoning and fire codes. They still own the house. Aaron Brice's father says the unsolved crime took away so many future dreams.
"Go off to college, raise their own family, so they've taken that away from us," said Brice.
Howard County Police say the reward for information has been increased to $7,500.
