New Fundraiser Will Let Parents Prove Their Kid Is The Cutest
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- There are a lot of cute babies out there but the parents, of course, usually think their kid is the cutest.
Now, as Mike Schuh reports, fundraisers have found a way to put parents to the test.
The Children's Miracle Network is helping Hopkins by figuring out how moms think.
"Well, everyone does think that their child is the most beautiful but I mean, yeah, look at her. She is," said mom Tammy White.
See, White knew little Tamari was a good looking kid, so this time last year, she entered the Most Photogenic Baby contest and the picture resulted in Tamari winning the overall prize.
"I knew it was to help children with cancer; we have a lot of cancer in the family so it was kind of personal, as well as a way to let her have fun," White said.
Flo Bosley also had fun with her boy, Micha. He won a different category.
Here's how they raise money: the photo shoot costs $35. The parents can buy the pictures and it's then 50 cents a vote as the public decides the winners.
"I think it's a great contest. It helps to raise money for our communities to help the children in our communities, and it's always good when you know where the money is going," Bosley said.
Last year, $13,000 was raised for the Hopkins Children's Cancer Center.
Another category winner: 5-year-old Courtney Redding.
"I like the aspect that, although your children achieve something, in the end, you raise a lot of money in a great cause and you hope your child never needs to go to the hospital but if they do, you want it to be a hospital that has everything they need," said Camille Redding.
This year's photo shoot is Thursday through Sunday at the Marley Station Mall. The photographer will be at Marley Station Mall starting Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday's hours will be slightly shorter.
