NBC Sportswriter Craig Calcaterra
Craig Calcaterra, sportswriter for HardballTalk at NBC, joined the Norris and Davis Show on Baltimore's 105-7 THE FAN Tuesday morning to discuss the upcoming trade deadline and any potential moves the Orioles could make. Calcaterra believes the Orioles could use a new starting pitcher in order to make sure the Orioles are ready to make a run at the division title or wild card spot. While there is not much available on the market, there are fewer players that are able to hit left-handed pitchers. Calcaterra believes that Bud Norris of the Houston Astros will be traded to someone, saying he would give you some reliable innings as a starter.
He then transitions to the what has been happening to Alex Rodriguez, saying he doesn't understand how A-Rod would be able to receive a lifetime ban or an extended suspension after his first infraction relating to PEDs. Calcaterra tells that most people believe that the players will all be announced and suspended by the end of the week, and most of the guys are going to be given 50 game suspensions.
When asked about the David Ortiz temper tantrum, Calcaterra doesn't understand why he wasn't suspended for destruction of property of another team. He seems to believe the MLB is looking the other way over many things because of the Biogenesis scandal going on.
