Navy Gets First Win Of Season, Beats Goucher 98-47
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Navy got into the win column after two road losses, romping at home over Goucher 98-47 on Wednesday night.
Brandon Venturini scored 16 points, Edward Alade 14 and Worth Smith 12 as 17 Midshipmen saw action with 16 scoring.
Navy (1-2) shot 48.8 percent from the field, taking 29 more shots with the help of a 57-26 rebounding advantage, led by James Hemphill with 10. Navy had a 23-6 edge on the offensive glass.
Navy point guard Tilman Dunbar did an effective job pushing the ball up the court in transition with eight assists.
The game counted as an exhibition for Goucher, a Division III school.
The Gophers, shooting just 28.3 percent, didn't have a player in double figures.
Julian Livingston had nine points to lead the Gophers of the Landmark Conference
