Navy Coach Lange Resigns After 20-Loss Season
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Navy men's basketball coach Billy Lange has resigned following a second straight losing season.
Lange coached the Midshipmen for seven years and had only two winning seasons. Navy went 11-20 in 2010-11 after going 13-17 one year earlier.
Lange says coaching at Navy "will always be one of the highest honors of my life," and says the program "is poised for a great future."
The Midshipmen went 9-19 in his first season at the Academy, in 2004-05. He guided Navy to a 16-14 record in 2007-08 and was named Patriot League coach of year.
Navy won 19 games the following season, but that was its last winning season under Lange.
