Navy, Air Force To Play 3-Game Series In North Carolina
KINSTON, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina's reputation as the nation's most military friendly state takes on a new spin as two baseball teams come to the state for a weekend series.
The U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy will play a three-game series beginning Friday in Kinston. It marks the first annual Freedom Series.
For the fourth time in the last five years, the Midshipmen posted a 30-win season in 2010, but 10 seniors graduated from that team, taking 50 percent of the club's hits and RBIs with them.
Air Force struggled to a 13-42 record last season. This year's team will be led by first-year coach Maj. Mike Kazlausky.
Friday's game starts at 6 p.m. The Saturday contest begins at 2 p.m. and the series finale starts at 12:30 p.m.
