Naval Academy Holds Annual Pre-Army Game Pep Rally
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- An intense rivalry is about to be contested for the 113th time: the Army-Navy football game pitting future warriors against each other. At the Naval Academy in Annapolis Wednesday night, "Beat Army!" was all you could hear.
Kai Jackson was there for the rowdy pep rally.
It's a clash of the military titans. The annual Army/Navy game generated big heat in Annapolis.
The midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy are ready to do battle with their biggest rival, the U.S. Military Academy--Army--which is located in New York.
"None of these guys are going pro. They're all gonna go out and serve; it's really just like brother against brother," said Max Chomic, a second year midshipman.
This year's game will be played in Philadelphia, but before that happens, the Mids held their annual pep rally to pump up their team. The Navy band Electric Brigade played more than "The Stars and Stripes Forever."
"I just can't wait to dominate Army and have a final hurrah!" said Tara Cutner, a fourth year midshipman.
"It's very exciting going into this last football game, the last Army/Navy game for our class and I think everybody's very excited for another victory over Army," said Tim Cadigan, a fourth year midshipman.
"It's pretty much Service Academy Super Bowl, if you wanna say that. It's a great rivalry, great tradition," said Vicente Huerta, a second year midshipman.
This will be the 113th meeting of the two teams, a rivalry steeped in honor and tradition.
