Narcotics Stolen In Well-Planned Robbery
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say a pharmaceutical delivery driver was abducted and narcotics were stolen from his truck in a well-planned and unusual robbery.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says three people, including one armed with a handgun, approached the driver Monday morning outside a pharmacy in West Baltimore.
Guglielmi says the robbers locked the driver in the back of the truck and drove less than two miles to a spot near Interstate 95 in South Baltimore. There, they unloaded 87 crates of narcotics into a private vehicle and drove off, leaving the driver, who called 911 and was found unharmed.
Guglielmi says police are working with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI to investigate the case.
Investigators believe the robbers likely knew what was in the truck or what was being delivered to the pharmacy.
