N.Y. Mayor Bloomberg Endorses Frosh For Md. Attorney General
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is endorsing Maryland state Sen. Brian Frosh in his bid for attorney general.
Bloomberg cited the senator's leading role in pushing for a sweeping gun control measure that was approved in Maryland this year. The law, which includes a fingerprint requirement to buy a handgun, took effect in October.
Frosh is chairman of the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. He is seeking the Democratic nomination for attorney general in the state.
The primary is scheduled for June 24. Three other Maryland lawmakers are seeking the Democratic nomination, including Del. Jon Cardin, Del. Aisha Braveboy and Del. Bill Frick.
Bloomberg is co-chair of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. He is leaving the mayor's office at the end of the month.
