2 killed, 3 injured in shooting at West Baltimore gas station
A man and a woman were killed and three other people were injured in a shooting at a West Baltimore gas station Sunday night, according to police.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to the BP gas station in the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue, where they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds: a woman and three men. A fifth victim, a man, arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds.
The woman and one of the men died, Police Commissioner Richard Worley said. The other three victims are expected to survive.
Worley said investigators are working to determine a motive.
"We don't know any of that yet," Worley said. "Hopefully, once we identify and speak to the victims that survived, they can give us some information. A lot of times, we have to rely on video evidence to put the pieces together."
Worley said there appeared to be two or three shooters, and that high-powered rifles were used. No one was in custody as of Sunday night.
Recent mass shootings in Baltimore
Over the past month, Baltimore police have responded to at least four mass shootings, including one earlier this month that killed a 12-year-old at a West Baltimore park. Another shooting killed an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old in the Winchester neighborhood of West Baltimore.
"It continues to be young people that indiscriminately fire weapons that they don't know how to shoot, they don't know how to control and multiple people are getting hit," Worley said. "It is frustrating. We are going to continue to push, try to solve this one and hold those accountable who took two lives."
