MTA Announces Changes To Bus Schedules, Routes
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- There may be a new way to work or school for hundreds of people who take the bus. The MTA changed several routes and schedules on Sunday.
Gigi Barnett reports it could cut down on travel times.
Fourteen MTA bus routes and schedules have changed. The agency says it's a new way to work or school for some passengers and is designed to be faster and more convenient.
"Adjustments are intended to improve customer service and increase the operating efficiency of those lines," said David Clark, MTA spokesman.
That means buses will arrive on time and there will be more stops and connections to other routes. Some lines will have extended service.
Some passengers say they're not so sure the new bus schedules will work because, for them, the old ones didn't.
"If it's going to be for better service, I'm OK with that. But if it's going to be the same that we've been getting then I won't be OK with that," said Marnie Johnson, MTA passenger.
"They keep changing the bus routes and everything gets screwed up," said Rayford Johnson. "You see like 8, 9, 10, 15 buses going out of service right in front of you."
"You look at the schedule and it may say that the bus will arrive at 10:40 something, but you're here and it's now 11:20 something," said Margo Cannon.
The MTA says it looks at its bus schedules and reviews passenger comments every three months. Then, it makes changes.
"The MTA is constantly gathering data about our performance, running time, passenger destinations," Clark said."We take that into account all year long."
The changes are already in effect.
