Mount Airy Man Gets 5 Years For Assaulting 2 Troopers
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Mount Airy man is going to prison for assaulting two off-duty Maryland State Police troopers in a bar.
The Frederick News-Post reports Scott Kent, 26, was sentenced Tuesday to five years with 15 more suspended.
Kent pleaded guilty in May to two counts of second-degree assault stemming from what investigators said was an unprovoked attack on Scott Robertson and Donald Harrison Nov. 20 at the Blue Sky Bar and Grill in New Market.
Police say Kent punched one of them in the face. Then he allegedly punched the other officer twice before pulling him to the floor and stomping on his head.
A defense witness testified that the troopers had made crude comments about a woman in their group.
