More Than 200 Maryland Companies Helped Respond To COVID-19

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — More than 200 Maryland companies and nonprofits have supported their communities' response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Larry Hogan said Monday.

Companies have helped in ways from sewing face masks, manufacturing personal protective equipment and delivering meals to front line workers. The businesses include technology firms, local boutiques, restaurants, hotels and biotechnology companies.

CORONAVIRUS RESOURCES: 

At least 35 breweries, distilleries, wineries, and vineyards have produced hand sanitizer or donated to COVID-19 relief funds, the governor's office said. More than 20 biotechnology and health care companies are contributing to the global effort to develop tests, vaccines, and treatments.

Meanwhile, the state reported Monday morning that there have been 64,603 confirmed cases in Maryland. That's an increase of 297 in a 24-hour period. The state says there have been 410,122 negative tests. That's up 5,397 from the day before.

Maryland has conducted 572,731 tests, and the state has a 5.03% positivity rate. There have been a total of 2,945 deaths, an increase of eight from the previous day. The state says 602 people with the virus who are hospitalized in Maryland. That's six people less than the day before.
