More Details Expected On Metro Train Derailment
WASHINGTON (AP) -- More details are expected to emerge about a partial derailment of a Metro train in Prince George's County last week.
Metro officials have blamed Friday's derailment near the West Hyattsville station on a period of excessive heat that caused a portion of the track to buckle.
The incident shut down service along a stretch of Metro's green line and led to the emergency evacuation of dozens of passengers, though no one was injured.
Metro officials are expected Thursday to release more details about the derailment, when members of the board's safety and security committee are briefed. That could include information about the last time that stretch of track was inspected.
