Montgomery County Officials ID House Fire Victim
POTOMAC, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County fire officials are identifying the victim of a house fire in Potomac.
Officials say Sung Kwack, 74, was killed in the fire in the 8500-block of Scarboro Court on Sunday afternoon. Kwack was unconscious when firefighters found him and was taken to a hospital where he later died.
A spokeswoman for Howard University in Washington says Kwack had been a professor of economics at the school for 25 years.
Officials say another man in his mid-70s was found in the home and was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
Fire officials say a damaged saucepan was found on a stovetop burner, where the man who survived said they were cooking.
