Montgomery County Council Passes Bill Banning Single-Use Plastic Straws
ROCKVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- The next time you grab a bite to eat in Montgomery County, you may not get a plastic straw.
The county council has passed a bill banning single-use straws.
The only exemption is for people with disabilities. Restaurants and food-service facilities will be asked to keep a limited supply of straws for those customers.
The county executive is expected to sign the bill. If he does, the ban will take effect in May.
