Mom Of Shooting Victim Says She Faces Eviction
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A woman whose daughter was fatally shot by her former boyfriend says she's in danger of being evicted.
Brenda Cole told the Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that she didn't pay January's rent and was in court on Friday for a failure-to-pay notice. She says a judge granted her request for a delay.
Cole's daughter, Heather Harris, was shot in the head last June. Randy Houston McPeak of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and is awaiting sentencing.
Cole says she goes to food pantries and has been receiving food stamps and $200 monthly payments from the Washington County Department of Social Services.
She says her lease expires at the end of next month. She's trying to find a new apartment.
